Director of Development – UT Libraries
Location:
Austin, Texas, United States. Full‑time, hybrid. Exempt role. Hiring Department: UT Libraries.
The University of Texas Libraries Director of Development leads the development of a comprehensive fundraising plan, cultivating high‑net‑worth donors and advancing the Libraries’ strategic priorities.
Responsibilities- Identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit current and potential donors; manage an active portfolio of 40‑70 prospective donors; grow annual fundraising totals from $1.5 million to $3 million+.
- Lead and manage the Libraries development team and strategic committees; set fundraising goals and provide oversight to two staff members; manage campaign committees.
- Serve as advisor to the Senior Vice Provost and executive leadership; contribute to strategic planning and support the Libraries’ mission.
- Collaborate with Texas Development to align fundraising initiatives and explore university‑wide opportunities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Proven track record of closing six‑figure gifts.
- Ability to build significant relationships with donors.
- Leadership experience and ability to grow a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with a comprehensive campaign in a complex setting, especially higher education.
- Ability to travel throughout the United States.
- Commitment to a welcoming team environment.
- Flexible and adaptive working style with strong project‑management skills.
- Advanced degree.
- 5+ years as a development professional.
- Background/familiarity with research libraries or similar cultural‑heritage institutions.
- Familiarity with University of Texas policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of prospect‑management applications and UT database systems.
$110,000+ depending on qualifications.
Working Conditions- Standard office and library conditions; weekend and evening work required.
- Must be able to travel overnight and on weekends.
