Position: Director, GCO Clinical Program Lead (GCPL) – Early Phase

General Description:

The GCO Program Lead is accountable for the strategic operational planning and clinical operational performance of the designated Early Phase programs, acting as a point of escalation for issue resolution. The role provides strategic leadership to gCSMs, encourages accountability, proactive risk management, and alignment with organizational goals. It involves mentoring, coaching, and cross‑functional collaboration to support program success.

Essential Functions
  • Strategic leadership and management
    • Accountable for building, developing and retaining the global team of gCSMs, including hiring, training, mentoring, developing reports, performance appraisals and resource management.
    • Oversee delivery and goal achievement of projects within the designated program(s).
    • Collaborate with other GCPLs and Franchise Heads to define strategies, set global standards and promote capability development.
  • GCO Representative for the designated Early Phase program(s)
    • Accountable to the Franchise ERC, DCT and governance teams for clinical operational insight.
    • Lead or participate in KOL engagement activities.
  • Program Management
    • Develop strategic feasibility and budget estimates during Early Planning and during strategy changes.
    • Responsible for resource allocation, CST formation and transition of outputs.
    • Create and maintain annual program budget and resource forecasts, track DCT goals.
    • Create and review compound‑level documents such as IB, DSUR, and protocol.
    • Oversee study planning and execution, conduct program review meetings, report status and operational KPIs.
    • Collaborate with GCPLs to evaluate preferred global vendors and participate in vendor governance.
    • Serve as a point of escalation for all compound‑related issues and identify process improvement initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Line manage direct reports of Global Clinical Study Managers (gCSMs) and provide performance and development plans.

Other Qualifications
  • Proven project and program management experience in Early Phase clinical trials;
    First‑In‑Human experience favored.
  • Experience across the entire lifecycle of multi‑region/country clinical trials in a fast‑paced global environment.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Experience in people management and program management preferred.
Travel

Travel may be required as per business need.

Education

Bachelor or higher degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline with 10+ years’ progressive experience in the clinical trial industry.

Salary Range

$ – $ annually. Compensation packages may vary by location. Non‑Commercial roles eligible for an annual bonus plan;
Commercial roles for an incentive compensation plan. All employees may receive discretionary equity awards and participate in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
