The Sr Director, HSSE Operations & Project Execution is responsible for ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for all colleagues and contractors while supporting the achievement of departmental KPIs and targets. This role involves implementing and maintaining HSSE management systems, processes, and programs across operational sites, ensuring full compliance with environmental standards and applicable legislation and regulations. The position focuses on protecting the environment and promoting a culture of safety and compliance throughout all operations.
RoleResponsibilities
- Leads a team of HSSE Managers and HSSE Associates to achieve departmental and Company KPIs and targets
- Drives HSSE Operational continuous improvement
- Oversees strategy implementation, KPIs, metrics, and targets for HSSE Operations
- Fosters company HSSE culture through interactions, communications, and leading by example
- Shares progress through daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to team members and HSSE leadership to ensure collaboration across departments and drive safe work
- Implementation of HSSE management system, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with company directives
- Regularly reviews Operations HSSE metrics and focuses the team on high-risk activities and trends
- Advises and guides operational leadership on the implementation of the HSSE management system, risk identification, and mitigation
- Responsible for targeted campaigns, programs, and initiatives for Operations, including DCE and Specialty Services
- Ensures governance and compliance with the HSSE management system and policies
- Provides feedback to HSSE Excellence regarding procedure improvement opportunities/needs
- Coordinates RCAs, works with HSSE team members to conduct root cause analyses and
- Ensures HSSE training compliance across the business
- Develops and manages HSSE Operations Team OKRs, team performance, and rankings
- A Bachelor of Science in Safety Management, Environmental, Engineering, or relevant area of study;
Master's degree preferred - A minimum of 11 years of operations safety management experience
- A minimum of 3 years leading a team and/or functional business unit
- Renewable Energy industry experience preferred

- Understanding of regulatory framework in different jurisdictions, regions, and markets
- Understanding of regulatory decision-making procedures
- Understanding of business model, regulatory, and technical developments and potential implications
- Understanding of operations, including: onshore wind, PV, and BESS
- Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically approximately 30% and as needed to effectively perform the job
- Languages:
English mandatory, additional languages an advantage
This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
