Position Overview

The Central Texas Food Bank is looking for a dynamic Retail Manager in our Food Industry Department. This role will focus on developing and maintaining relationships with food donors to ensure eatable foods are available for the food bank. The Retail Manager owns the relationships with all our Food Industry partners and manages a team that makes regular calls on all locations such as HEB, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Costco, as well as distribution centers and food manufacturing locations.

This position will spend significant time out of the office visiting donors to ensure they have a thorough understanding of established donation processes while also targeting efforts to expand the number of food doors in the system.

Relationships

The Food Industry Retail Manager reports directly to the Director of Food Industry and manages the Retail Program team. This position works in close collaboration with the warehouse and logistics team to ensure food donations are handled successfully. This position is highly visible internally and externally.

Your Responsibilities
  • Select, hire, train, develop and supervise direct reports
  • Set performance goals for team members that align to CTFB strategies and evaluate on a regular basis
  • Effectively coach team members and ensure they develop technical, leadership and professional skills necessary for success
  • Establish and maintain long-term, productive relationships with grocery retail donors at the store and regional management levels to ensure a consistent flow of nutritious donated food and non-food items
  • Maintain strong, cooperative relationships with the food bank’s Transportation and Warehouse staff, including CTFB Drivers
  • Act as an advocate in the reduction of food waste by educating key partners of the impact of eliminating hunger
  • Onboard new grocery retail store locations to the food rescue program as needed
  • Maintain timely and appropriate donor recognition communications
  • Maintain accurate and timely donation spreadsheets and provide reports as required. Provide monthly key performance indicator (KPI) data and other monthly or quarterly reports
  • Visit retail donors within 21 county service area
  • Travel extensively, approximately 50%, within our 21 county service area
  • Preparation of reports tracking goals, metrics, and deadlines
  • Commit to supporting CTFB’s mission, vision, values, and culture
  • Perform additional duties as necessary and/or requested
Working Conditions
  • Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with a hybrid work schedule. Some evening and weekend hours may be required, and flex time is encouraged to keep the total number of work hours per week at 40, provided work objectives are met.
  • Environment: This position works in a typical office setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing, and/or bending; listening, talking, and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. This position also requires working independently with others on a team.
  • Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings or special events.
