DEPARTMENT Communications and Marketing SUPERVISOR EVP/Chief Executive Officer BASIC FUNCTION
Delivers professional communication and marketing services to deliver a strong and positive tone reflecting TMA’s member-driven vision, mission, and policies through a highly integrated communications strategy to TMA members, their patients, federation of medicine, state and federal elected officials, regulators and the media. Builds upon the longstanding culture of collaboration between all TMA Divisions, county medical societies, state specialty societies, the AMA to foster a strong member-driven message supportive of TMA’s goals of speaking with One Voice and acting as a Trusted Leader.
MAJORRESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS
This position oversees all employees of the division with direct supervision of those who direct and manage the division’s work.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Knowledge andExperience:
Knowledge required is normally equivalent to the attainment of bachelor's degree in related field and several years (e.g., 10 years) work experience.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communication, media relations, and marketing program to advance an organization's mission and goals.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
- Must have exceptional writing experience and editorial judgement.
- Must have familiarity with the Texas legislative process.
- Ability to be a team player and deal effectively and appropriately with the public, TMA members, and other TMA employees.
- Must be organized and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Must have strong writing and editing skills.
- Ability to plan work that requires judgment and analysis of problems or material issues which usually impact other TMA divisions and TMA members.
- Expertise in basic office computer programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of social media and the web editing.
- Knowledge of basic HTML.
