Position: Associate Vice President for Finance and Resource Management

Associate Vice President for Finance and Resource Management The University of Texas at Austin

UT Austin seeks an accomplished financial and operational leader to serve as Associate Vice President for Finance and Resource Management (AVP) within Operational Services and Strategies (OSS). This is a newly created role at a moment of extraordinary momentum for the University – as UT Austin advances a robust and ambitious five-year capital plan, undertakes a concurrent five-year plan to address deferred maintenance, pursues its first comprehensive campus master plan in more than a decade, and sharpens its focus on creating and delivering an exceptional campus experience.

The AVP will serve as chief financial officer for the OSS portfolio – working hand in hand with the Office of the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, which leads finance for the University as a whole – and as the executive steward of the University’s real estate assets, while building a new project management capability to deliver some of the most consequential capital and change‑management initiatives in the University’s history.

Reporting to Vice President of Operations, Katie Brock, the AVP will help shape how one of the nation’s leading public research universities plans, finances, and manages the physical infrastructure behind its mission.

Operational Services and Strategies oversees the University’s spaces, places, and services – including its strategic investments in real estate and its delivery of complex, cross‑campus initiatives. Renamed in late 2025 to reflect the team’s role as caretakers of a special place, OSS comprises eight units essential to maintaining a world‑class environment and operating strategy:
Campus Operations and Planning, Campus Services, Central Human Resources, Discovery to Impact, Campus Real Estate Office, Corporate Relations, the Texas Institute for Electronics, and University Housing and Dining.

The AVP for Finance and Resource Management will provide executive leadership across three interconnected areas: financial and administrative oversight for OSS, strategic and operational stewardship of the University’s real estate assets, and the establishment of a new project management function to lead high‑priority, cross‑campus initiatives. In each of these areas, the AVP will work in close alignment with the Office of the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and partner with University Business Services to deliver coordinated, high‑quality financial and administrative support across the portfolio.

A leader of leaders, the AVP will be a trusted partner to colleagues across the University and a valued advisor to Vice President Brock and other senior leaders.

The AVP must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and eight to ten years of progressive experience in financial leadership or complex operational management within a large organization. Candidates should bring proven expertise in planning, budgeting, and financial management at scale; strong leadership and supervisory experience, including the ability to build a new team or function from scratch and to direct specialized expertise outside their own domain;

and excellent communication and relationship‑building skills across diverse stakeholders.
