Bold Thinking. World Changing. At Sky Water, our ingenuity helps improve lives around the world by manufacturing U.S. made semiconductors that are essential ingredients of modern life. Automotive safety enhancements, life-saving medical devices, consumer electronics and American security require semiconductors. Working in our Minnesota headquarters, Florida, or Texas location — employees join together to improve the world.
Explore what’s possible. Joining our U.S.
- based team means contributing to and learning about the commercialization of some of the most exciting technologies the world has ever seen. We are turning “science fiction” into everyday reality through technologies such as superconducting, 3D integrated circuits or computer chips, carbon nanotubes, photonic logic devices, micro electro-mechanical systems and other emerging device topologies. We manufacture products for aerospace and defense, medical, automotive, consumer and industrial markets, to name a few.
Our customers include emerging leaders who rely on our intellectual property security and quality manufacturing services.
Step into the future. Sky Water’s values of Integrity, Excellence, Collaboration, Empowerment and Growth Mindset guide us to cultivate an empowered, learning environment. We also invest in developing highly skilled, dedicated employees — and employees who are entering the workforce for the first time, from the military, and a variety of educational backgrounds.
Are you bold thinking? Find your place on our team and help us change the world!
HoursA Shift: Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 6:55 am to 7:10 pm.
Source Rebuild Responsibilities- Component Inspection and Diagnostics:
Performing initial inspections to identify failures, such as unstable arcs, beam stability issues, or component-level degradation like elastomer wear. - Disassembly and Decontamination:
Safely dismantling the source assembly and performing extensive chemical decontamination and surface cleaning to remove hazardous residues (e.g., arsenic, phosphorus, or boron species). - Part Replacement and Refurbishment:
- Filaments and Cathodes:
Crucial for plasma generation. - Arc Chamber Components:
Cleaning or replacing the repeller, aperture, and chamber walls. - Electrodes and Insulation:
Inspecting extraction electrodes and isolation components for whisker-like growth or electrical shorts. - Precision Reassembly:
Skilled reassembly of the ion source box and its internal manifolds, ensuring vacuum integrity and alignment of extraction apertures.
- Filaments and Cathodes:
- Vacuum Integrity Testing:
Performing mandatory leak checks on the source area to prevent process-lifetime reduction and ensure stable operating pressures.
Maintaining detailed logs of maintenance activities to optimize "source lifetime" and minimize production downtime (a standard rebuild can take roughly 1.5 man-hours per source).
Safety and Regulatory Compliance- Participating in Maintenance or cross-functional teams such as 5S.
- Take ownership of small projects and equipment assembly tasks.
- Work with outside vendors as required.
- Process chemical and gas handling.
- Maintains critical spares and consumables inventory.
- Use hand tools including wrenches, calipers, voltage/current meters, oscilloscopes and other various equipment technology specific tooling.
