Overview
Blue Owl is Hiring a Packaging Technician! Blue Owl Brewing is a unique brewery in Austin, Texas producing both sour and non-sour beers on a 30 bbl system. We are looking to fill a vacancy immediately for a packaging technician with 2+ years of packaging experience.
Our ideal candidate would have operated and maintained a multi-head inline canning machine. At Blue Owl we use a Wild Goose Five Head Single Lane Canning System. We are a small team that relies on good communication and ability to perform a multitude of roles in production. Ideal candidates would also have interest in cross training in Cellar and Brewhouse.

Job responsibilities- Safe and efficient operation of Wild Goose canning line and Keg Washer
- Record Volume of CO2, Dissolved Oxygen levels, and clarity of beer prior to canning runs
- Set up and tear down all equipment for packaging runs
- Monitor and record seaming specs, maintain proper specs and SOP
- Perform and manage all preventative maintenance for all packaging equipment
- Manage packaging materials inventory and communicate when orders should be placed
- Timely communication when spare parts / misc. supplies are needed
- Effectively communicate and work directly with Head Brewer and production team for timely packaging to ensure no bottlenecks
- Accurate and timely record keeping including but not limited to QC specs, finished goods counts, low fill counts, and materials waste
- Keep packaging area clean and organized
- Clean kegs and organize for packaging
- Working in confined spaces, lifting repeatedly, moving product and climbing ladders repeatedly
- Working with dangerous chemicals while following Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
- Operating forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks
- Cross training in Cellar and Brewhouse
- Mission-driven mindset towards team goals and accomplishing tasks
- Team player with a growth mindset towards learning and professional growth
- 2+ years experience operating a canning line
- Experience repairing, adjusting, swapping parts and troubleshooting canning line
- Can work effectively in an autonomous environment to accomplish tasks
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Able to lift 55 lbs. over head
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Forklift certification a plus
