Avionics Technician (Assembler)

Are you experienced in wire harness building within the Military, Aerospace, Aviation, or heavy industrial industries? Join an exciting, innovative start-up company that is quickly evolving. The Wire Harness Assembly Technician will support all wire harness and cable assembly for the Assembly/Production department. This role involves building large industrial wire harnesses from start to finish, requiring the ability to read and interpret drawings and create harnesses without a completed schematic.

Responsibilities
  • Support all wire harness and cable assembly for the Assembly/Production department.
  • Build large industrial wire harnesses from scratch, similar to those in Aviation or Aerospace assemblies.
  • Utilize D399 connectors, with a preference for experience in Aviation/Aerospace/Military harness assemblies.
  • Interpret electrical drawings to create harnesses without a formal schematic.
  • Collaborate with a manufacturing team of 15-20.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2+ years recent experience building harnesses for Aviation, Aerospace, Military, or other heavy industrial assemblies.
  • IPC-620 certification or experience with Mil-Spec connectors.
  • Proficient in cutting, crimping, and labeling wires.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly tools including torque wrenches, crimpers, cutting tools, and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret a drawing to create a complex wire harness from scratch.
  • Self-starter, confident communicator, problem-solver, and ability to work within ambiguity.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using AF8s or AFM8s to manufacture harnesses.
  • Experience in the early stages of a start-up company.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Hobbies in mechanical projects.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled assembly shop and corporate headquarters offices. Openings are available on the 2nd shift from 3pm-11:30pm. The entire operation will relocate to a new site by next summer, which is only about 8 minutes away. The company offers a very friendly, driven, collaborative culture.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
