The Assistant Plant Supervisor will oversee daily operations at our Austin Portable Ready Mix plant. In this role, you’ll drive safety, quality, team performance, and customer satisfaction while ensuring efficient, reliable production.
Key Responsibilities- Promote a safety-first culture with daily Take 5s and consistent coaching.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and Greenstar requirements.
- Oversee equipment inspections, storm‑water/spill prevention, and corrective actions.
- Lead and support drivers, batch personnel, and plant staff.
- Manage schedules, daily assignments, and timecards.
- Coach, develop, and motivate team members; support hiring and discipline when needed.
- Oversee batching, production, dispatch, and plant uptime.
- Maintain inventory, order materials, and coordinate maintenance.
- Conduct daily product testing and maintain TXDOT‑compliant stockpiles.
- Monitor moisture probes, communicate mix changes, and maintain a daily black diary.
- Partner closely with Customer Service and Sales to exceed expectations.
- Address customer questions, follow‑ups, and complaints professionally.
- Control costs and support profit targets.
- Post and review KPIs daily.
- Complete all required reports and operational paperwork.
- 2 years Ready Mix experience required.
- Strong communicator with solid local area knowledge.
- Proven problem‑solver who performs well under pressure.
- Computer‑proficient (batching, billing, communication systems).
- Able to read maps, perform basic math, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Texas Certified Plant Inspector or willing to obtain.
- Professional appearance and customer‑focused mindset.
