Rotor Shop Machinist

About the role
Our Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations support gas turbine, steam turbine, and rotating equipment repairs. The Rotor Shop Machinist contributes to operational excellence by performing precision machining, inspections, and repairs that ensure reliability, safety, and quality for customer equipment.
What you will do
- Read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Apply knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances and basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
- Unstack and stack compressor rotors.
- Blade and tip grind compressor wheels.
Minimum qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with rotor manual machining, especially on gas turbine rotor machines.
- Demonstrated intermediate skill level (Aligning, Runouts, Turning, and Grinding) on at least two of three machines:
Manual Lathe, and VTLs. - Ability to support Rotor Shop and Machine Shop based on customer needs (steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, gas components, aero components, and value rack repairs).
- Ability to operate a manual lathe for rotor work.
- Experience in gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10s, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) rotors and component machining is a plus.
Work schedule
We recognize that flexible working arrangements help people perform at their best. This role may include the following shift options based on operational needs:
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (Overtime and weekend work available)
- 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM (Overtime and weekend work available)
