Overview: The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin‑supported semiconductor consortium focused on developing next‑generation manufacturing technology. As a Facility Material Handler, you will support daily chemical, gas, and waste operations for a semiconductor manufacturing facility, ensuring safe material movement, sampling, packaging, and facility support across multiple locations.
Responsibilities- Change out gas cylinders and keep cabinets/panels supplied and ready.
- Swap chemical drums on CDUs and maintain chemical delivery.
- Package solvent, Cu/Sn/Ag, and HF waste for proper removal.
- Refill and replace dosing chemicals for WNP systems.
- Coordinate bulk gas deliveries/offloads when needed.
- Perform routine CDR inspections and report issues.
- Collect routine chemical and water samples for testing/monitoring.
- Assist with basic facility tasks (HVAC filters; boiler/PCW/CT chemical checks).
- Support rounds (leak checks/cleanup, 6S, PPE supplies, spare‑parts organization).
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in material handling, chemical handling, industrial operations, or manufacturing.
- Experience working around chemicals, compressed gases, or hazardous materials.
- Ability to follow SOPs, safety protocols, and cleanroom procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and climb stairs and ladders.
- Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and tracking.
- Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident).
- Experience in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environment.
- HAZWOPER or other chemical safety certification.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with chemical distribution systems (CDUs) or gas cabinets.
- Familiarity with water treatment systems (boiler, PCW, cooling towers).
Job requires a class “C” driver’s license. A current three‑year driving record from the current state of residence is required. If not a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a resident. Employees subject to a CDL must undergo drug and alcohol testing.
Salary RangeTIE pays industry‑competitive salaries. Specific range not disclosed.
Working Conditions- Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
- May work in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, chemical fumes, and standard office environments.
- May work around electrical and mechanical hazards.
- Use of manual dexterity and repetitive keyboard/ mouse tasks.
- Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
- Work may be performed in cleanroom and industrial utility environments; respiratory protection may be required.
- Must follow strict PPE and chemical handling protocols.
- Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Occasional nights and weekends may be required (supplemental pay).
