Manufacturing Production, Food Production
Hold Out Brewing is looking for a quality-minded, highly motivated person to join our small, yet mighty crew here in Old West Austin. Opening in May of 2020, our 10HL brewpub has averaged 1200 bbls of production for the past 3 years, and is on pace this year to max out our cellar at 1400 bbls of carefully crafted IPA’s, lagers, and more.
We have a talented chef team on site, managing the menus at Hold Out & Better Half, and have recently acquired a bar in North Austin that is operating as a successful satellite tap room. Our in‑house brewery team of 4 oversees all production, packaging, and self-distribution around the Austin & Central Texas area.
The ideal candidate for this position has a minimum of 3-5 years experience across all areas of brewery work, including operating a (mostly) manual brewhouse; performing cellar operations inclusive of tank CIPs (at atmosphere and under pressure), racking of finished beer, filtration, and yeast handling; and packaging procedures including keg and can filling. We’re a small crew, and we regularly trade proverbial hats in the brewery.
The right candidate must be willing to cross train and work in all areas of daily production.
Nitty gritty’s that should go without saying if you’ve met the aforementioned experience requirement:
- You will be asked to lift heavy things, from ingredients to finished beers, as much as carrying bags of grain up the stairs to our mill, to stacking full 50L kegs on top of one another.
- You will be on your feet a lot; this is not a desk job.
- At the core of every successful brewer(y) is a deep‑seated respect for cleanliness, organization, and a careful attention to detail. Thisjobwill involve cleaning, it will involve organizing, and it will require an attention to detail at all times.
Other Important Notes:
- While we have a delivery driver on staff, every member of our team is expected to be able to handle occasional distribution runs as the need arises.
- As a part of our weekly schedule, the brewers take turns covering a small amount of Sunday work each weekend. This includes gravity checks, filling water tanks to prep for the week, and taking stock of inventory for the tap room. This work typically lasts a couple of hours.
- Candidates must be enthusiastic about participating in events at the brewery, as well as industry events around the state and country. A large part of the culture at Hold Out has been built around and with our community & industry peers. Participation therein is not optional. Misanthropes & grumble bunnies need not apply.
This is a salaried position, pay being commensurate with experience, that includes access to Medical, Dental & Vision benefits; company paid Short & Long Term Disability and Life Insurance; paid time off; discounts at all affiliated shops (Hold Out, Better Half, Brew & Brew, Little Brother, Turnstile); periodic travel to events; beer and more!
