Production QC/QA
As the Shift Leader at our Austin facility, you will directly manage production operators to achieve safety, quality, and efficiency targets. This role requires practical expertise in automotive manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing tools, and rapid problem-solving. You will ensure a seamless and efficient production flow across shifts while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. This position requires flexibility for rotating shifts and overtime support during peak production periods.
Key Responsibilities- Production Execution: Oversee daily operations to consistently meet shift output goals. Monitor real-time metrics, including hourly output and downtime. Promptly escalate and resolve line issues such as equipment breakdowns and material shortages to minimize production disruptions.
- Quality Control: Conduct first-article inspections and in-process checks in compliance with IATF 16949 standards. Accurately document defects, including weld spatter and dimensional issues, and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Team Leadership: Manage operator performance, conduct daily shift meetings, and enforce company attendance policies. Train new hires on standard operating procedures and safety protocols while promoting cross‑training initiatives to build team flexibility.
- Lean Improvement: Lead Kaizen events to reduce changeover times through single‑minute exchange of die methodologies. Propose efficiency enhancements based on the analysis of overall equipment effectiveness data.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with OSHA standards, including personal protective equipment requirements and lock‑out tag‑out procedures. Conduct regular safety walkthroughs and report near misses immediately. Maintain 5S standards for tool organization and waste disposal across all production areas.
- Reporting and Data Entry: Complete detailed shift reports covering output, scrap, and labor hours for submission to the Production Manager. Input real‑time data into the Manufacturing Execution System to ensure traceability and accuracy.
- High school diploma or equivalent, though relevant professional experience may substitute.
- Three or more years of experience in manufacturing supervision or leadership roles.
- Professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin to support technical documentation and team communication.
- Strong, hands‑on problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to adapt to rotating shifts and high‑pressure environments.
- Technical degree or associate degree in a relevant manufacturing or engineering field.
- Experience supervising automotive stamping or welding production processes.
- Lean Yellow Belt certification.
- OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry certification.
- Proficiency using Manufacturing Execution Systems and Andon systems for data analysis.
