Openwork is partnering with a leading regional metal distributor to find an organized and dedicated Material Handler to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a team environment, and is eager to contribute to the success of a growing organization. In this role, you won't just be moving boxes; you will actively process customer orders by pulling raw metal stock and operating specialized industrial machinery to cut materials to exact specifications.

- Accurately pull metal stock (steel, aluminum, stainless, brass, and copper) according to customer pick tickets and sales orders.
- Operate warehouse processing equipment, including industrial bandsaws, shears, and plate saws, to perform custom "cut-to-size" processing.
- Ensure all cuts meet standard industrial tolerances and verify piece counts against order sheets.
- Unload incoming freight, verify materials against packing slips, check for damage, and stock metals into designated warehouse racks.
- Assist will-call customers with loading materials safely onto their vehicles in a friendly, professional manner.
- Securely package completed orders for shipping, freight, or local truck delivery.
- Safely load company delivery trucks, conduct routine pre-trip inspections, and deliver orders to local commercial clients following optimized routes.
- 1–2 years of experience in a warehouse, metal service center, manufacturing, or construction environment is highly preferred. Experience operating industrial saws or shearing equipment is a major plus.
- Must be highly proficient in reading tape measures accurately down to fractions of an inch and performing basic math calculations for cutting requirements.
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, and frequently handle heavier materials with the assistance of teammates or material handling equipment.
- Must be willing to submit to a background check and a drug screening.
- Schedule:
Monday
- Friday 7:30am-4:30pm 8:30a-5:30p OR with rotating Saturdays. - Pay: $18.00/hr.
- Opportunity for overtime.

Central Austin. - Hands-on training.
