Job Description
Responsible for the daily cleaning of the manufacturing and general storage areas of the facility. Will be required to disassemble and re‑assemble equipment to complete the cleaning process. All parts to remain with the equipment after cleaning. Remove waste from the areas and place it in the designated containers. Work safely, timely, and efficiently while following GMPs, PPE, and safety regulations.
Follow good housekeeping practices, sanitation SOPs, and USDA guidelines for food/sanitation. Operate compactor units (inedible and corrugated) and may operate pallet jacks.
- Ensure product on the floor is squeegeed or scooped and placed in the appropriate disposal bin; avoid placing food products, gloves, wraps, or other articles down drains; ensure drain covers are in place.
- Use water for cleaning only as needed to prevent overspray and cross‑contamination.
- Cover motors, electrical panels, and plugs with plastic bags.
- Disassemble and re‑assemble equipment for cleaning, keeping all parts with the equipment and storing hoses properly after use.
- Follow lock‑out, tag‑out procedures.
- Follow GMPs and USDA guidelines for food/sanitary requirements.
- Operate equipment controls and report any malfunctions or hazards to a supervisor.
- Operate power washers safely and efficiently.
- Report equipment concerns to a supervisor or maintenance personnel to avoid production delays.
- Perform other duties as assigned by lead or supervisor and report to work station properly dressed with correct PPE on time.
- Must be able to communicate and read/write in English (bilingual preferred).
- Stand, reach, bend, climb steps or stairs occasionally; lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Work well with others and meet required demands on work/quality to support the sanitation process with minimal supervision.
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge of chemical usage/cleaning.
- Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude.
- Evaluate performance within the first 120 hours of employment.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate understanding of cleaning chemicals used in this role.
- Understand the need to assist on other lines and areas as sanitation activities are required.
- Travel throughout production areas, including refrigerated warehouses.
- Push, pull, and lift occasional heavy loads (up to 50 lbs.).
- Work flexible hours based upon operational needs.
- Operate power washers for cleaning if required.
- Work around moving machinery; be aware of hot/cold/refrigerated conditions, loud noise, and wet, potentially slippery floors.
The starting hourly rate for this full‑time position is $19.50 + $2 shift differential. Individual base pay may vary by location and additional factors such as experience and relevant training.
