The Brewtorium Brewery & Kitchen is looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented, quality-obsessed assistant brewer to join its small but passionate team! We are a mom & pop, female co-owned and operated 15 bbl brewery and restaurant in North Central Austin with a growing draft distribution footprint. This position involves hands-on tasks in all areas of the brewing process from wort production to packaging, working under the direction of the Head Brewer.
A passion for quality and a love & knowledge of craft beer is a must.
- Raw materials:
Assessment, organization, management and inventory - Wort production:
Production of specified wort with attention to detail and world-class manufacturing techniques - Yeast management:
Harvesting, pitching, cell counts and daily monitoring of fermentations - Barrel program:
Filling, emptying and sampling as needed - Bright beer:
Transfer of finished beer, carbonation testing and quality assurance - Packaging:
Packaging of bright beer in kegs and cans - CIP Operations:
Cleaning of fermentation vessels, bright tanks and brewing equipment using industry best practices - Keg management: cleaning, filling, scanning and inventory
- Close adherence to all SOPs and safety procedures, as provided
- Beer line cleaning for the front and back bars
- Educating bartenders on our house beers
- Line cleaning at distribution accounts & support with sales and distribution tasks as needed
- Exhibit kindness, professionalism & patience toward all staff & guests
- Minimum 2 years of relevant brewing experience
- An obsession with cleanliness and sanitation
- Intensive attention to detail and self-motivation
- Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards
- Time management skills and situational awareness
- Ability to manage multiple processes at one time
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members throughout the brewery
- Availability nights and/or weekends for off-site events, representing the brewery at festivals, guild meetings, etc.
- Ability to meet physical challenges of working in a brewery
- Candidates with mechanical or related experience preferred
- Ability to lift a minimum of 13 lbs.
