We are looking for an early-career marketer who will assist the Communications Specialist in the creation and execution of marketing efforts for the Department of Theatre and Dance. The Marketing Specialist's core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and coordinating written and multimedia content for website, social media, print and email marketing. The role will collaborate closely with the Communications Specialist and other administrative staff and student employees in the Department of Theatre and Dance and the College of Fine Arts.

The position is part-time at 30 hours per week.

Purpose

Develops and executes content for Department of Theatre and Dance print and digital platforms, including web, social media channels, email newsletters, production playbills and other channels, for various internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Content Creation and Management:
    Research, write, publish and monitor audience-centered content for print and digital channels, including website content and other communications collateral. Collect and compile information for playbills and communicate with playbill designer. Support the creation and distribution of email marketing and digital newsletters. Collaborate on video content creation. Work with the Communications Specialist and College of Fine Arts web team on departmental website improvements and upgrades.

    Work to ensure consistency of messaging and adherence to the brand voice and written style guide, while ensuring accuracy and appropriateness across all channels.
  • Social Media Content Coordination :
    Oversee the department's social media channels. Support, create and deploy social media campaigns and advertising. Monitor and respond to online conversations and inquiries. Manage the department's digital media content editorial calendar. Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies and applications on social media and look for ways to enhance and expand the department's digital reach and audience engagement.

    Run analytic reports to assess success of digital marketing efforts (social media and website).
  • Student Employee Management:
    In collaboration with the Communications Specialist, post positions, interview and hire two to three student assistants for the department's communications office. Train workers and ensure job duties are being completed. Schedule student workers' shifts. Timesheet management.
  • Administrative:
    Manage production and departmental historical archives. In collaboration with the Communications Specialist, administer the department's digital signage, including managing content, posting/scheduling and developing templates for content. Support the Communications Specialist on projects that promote the department and expand audience awareness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of experience in promotions, marketing, public relations or journalism
  • Experience in the use of social media platforms
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to synthesize complex concepts clearly and concisely and communicate effectively
