Austin, TX (hybrid) · $67,000–$75,000 + commission on new business
The Sol Studio is a boutique marketing agency working with clients across food and grocery, consumer brands, political, and media. We keep the roster small so every account gets senior attention.
We're hiring a Social Media Manager to own the day-to-day creative work across a small portfolio of accounts - shooting content on location, editing short-form video, designing static assets, and writing the copy that goes with it. You'll work directly with both founders on strategy and direction. You're the one making it, and you have real input on what gets made.
Whatyou’ll do
- Create the work. Shoot on location (product, food, in-store b-roll, founder talking-head, events), edit short-form video, design graphics and carousels, and write captions in each client's voice. Most shooting is iPhone-quality, along with our Sony a6700 mirrorless camera.
- Own the calendar. Keep content produced and out for approval two to four weeks ahead so nothing comes down to a Friday scramble.
- Shape the strategy. Contribute to channel mix, content pillars, and cadence for your accounts. We'll set direction together — you'll be the one closest to what's actually working.
- Run production days. Build shot lists and keep the day on track. On bigger shoots with hired crew, you're directing rather than operating the camera.
- Report on it. Monthly performance reporting that connects the numbers to decisions — what moved, why, and what we're changing.
- Keep it documented. Clean, current notes in Notion so any account can be picked up without a briefing call.
Must have
- 3+ years in social media or content, with client-facing time
- A portfolio of short-form work you personally shot and edited
- Strong instincts for short-form video, and the ability to explain why something works
- Excellent writing - captions, short-form copy, and clear client communication
- The organization to run several accounts without dropping threads, and the judgment to flag capacity issues early
- Confidence in your work
- Based in Austin. Shoots and client meetings happen in person.
Nice to have
- Agency experience
- Background in food and beverage, retail or grocery, consumer brands, political, or media
Notion (our hub for everything), Slack, Google Workspace, Canva or Figma, Cap Cut or Premiere, Meta and Tik Tok Business Suites.
- Monday–Friday, core hours 9–5 CT
- Remote day-to-day, with regular local travel for shoots and client visits
- Shoot days and launches occasionally fall outside standard hours. They're scheduled in advance and balanced with flexibility elsewhere in the week.
- Reviews at 30, 60, and 90 days, then quarterly. Compensation reviewed annually at minimum.
This role tracks to Senior Social Media Manager and then Account Director as the roster grows. You'll work directly with the founders on how the agency operates, and there's budget for tools, training, and conferences that improve your work.
How we work- Ownership. When something is at risk, you raise it early enough that it can be solved. Nobody should have to chase an update.
- Craft. The work carries our name. We spend the extra hour to get it right.
- Directness. We give feedback plainly and take it the same way. It's faster and it produces better work.
- Advisors, not order-takers. Clients hire us for judgment. When we think a direction is wrong, we say so, and we bring a better recommendation with us.
