JOB TITLE: Communications Manager

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer; upon hire, this position will work closely with and may receive day-to-day operational supervision from the Chief Operating Officer consistent with organizational needs.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

LOCATION: Remote (U.S Based)

SALARY: $75,000 – $85,000

Position Summary:

The Communications Manager manages the day-to-day execution of Women Heart's communications strategy, amplifying the organization's mission, programs, advocacy efforts, events, and partnerships across external audiences. This role owns Women Heart's organizational content calendar, website, email communications, social media presence, and digital storytelling efforts. The Communications Manager serves as the organization's primary social media lead, responsible for developing and executing platform-specific strategies, creating engaging content, growing online audiences, fostering community engagement, monitoring trends, and analyzing performance to advance organizational goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Content Strategy and Editorial
  • Own the organizational content calendar, coordinating across programs, development, corporate relations, and advocacy so campaigns, awareness moments, and program milestones are sequenced and resourced
  • Write, edit, and publish content across Women Heart’s external channels, including web copy, email, social posts, newsletters, blog posts, and program collateral
  • Copyedit and proofread outgoing external materials
  • Draft select executive thought leadership communications, including CEO remarks, statements, and blog posts, in coordination with the Strategic Communications Consultant
  • Maintain editorial workflows that support timely approvals, publication schedules, and organizational priorities.
  • Serve as the communications liaison across departments, helping staff translate organizational priorities into clear, audience-focused communications.
  • Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Support communications needs for organizational events, including promotional campaigns, registration communications, onsite materials, and post-event communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Women Heart's mission.
Digital Communications
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize content for Women Heart.org using the organization's content management system.
  • Create, schedule, publish, and monitor social media content across a variety of formats that advances Women Heart's strategic priorities, programs, advocacy initiatives, fundraising efforts, events, and community engagement.
  • With Strategic Communications Consultant, develop integrated, multi-channel communications plans supporting organizational initiatives, including the Science & Leadership Symposium, Champion engagement and recruitment, fundraising

campaigns, advocacy priorities, corporate partnerships, and public awareness efforts.

  • Ensure digital content follows best practices for readability, accessibility, SEO, and user engagement.
  • Maintain digital asset archives and content libraries for future organizational use.
