Position Overview

The Vice President Community Relations‑Waco will be the first fundraising representative based at Central Texas Food Bank’s new satellite location in Waco, Texas. Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer
, this position is responsible for growing philanthropic support across McLennan County and eight other surrounding counties. The Vice President Community Relations will lead regional fundraising efforts with a strong emphasis on major gifts
, corporate partnerships
, and foundation giving
. This is a unique opportunity to build and strengthen the Central Texas Food Bank brand and presence in a community we’ve long served but are now embedding in more deeply. Success in this role will require strong ties to the philanthropic landscape of Waco and neighboring counties in CTFB’s service area, as well as the ability to design and execute a sustainable fundraising strategy in alignment with the Food Bank’s overall resource development goals.

Relationships

The Vice President Community Relations‑Waco is a key member of the Resource Development department and reports directly to the Chief Development Officer
. While based in Waco, this position will collaborate regularly with colleagues at the Austin headquarters, including teams focused on Major Gifts, Corporate & Foundation Giving, Communications, Volunteer Engagement, and Development Operations.

Externally, this position will develop and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, cultivating meaningful relationships with individual philanthropists
, corporate leaders
, and foundation representatives in the region. As the local face of the Central Texas Food Bank, the officer will represent the organization at events, meetings, and public engagements to build awareness and deepen community support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive regional fundraising strategy to grow individual, corporate, and foundation support in Waco and surrounding communities.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, creating customized cultivation and stewardship plans to deepen engagement.
  • Identify and pursue corporate giving opportunities, including sponsor ships, employee giving campaigns, and community grants.
  • Build and sustain relationships with local foundations in coordination with the Development Operations team.
  • Represent the Central Texas Food Bank in community events, coalitions, and regional philanthropic networks to elevate brand visibility and impact storytelling.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to tailor messaging and collateral for the Waco market.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Waco satellite site and the Austin‑based development team to ensure strategic alignment and information sharing.
  • Track and report on fundraising activity, donor engagement, and revenue performance using CTFB’s donor database and CRM tools.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a strong emphasis on major gifts and/or corporate and foundation relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the philanthropic and business landscape in Waco and Central Texas.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and solicit donors, manage relationships, and meet fundraising goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑starter with a high degree of initiative, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Comfort working independently in a satellite office, while maintaining close coordination with a central team.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in nonprofit management, communications, or related field.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Central Texas Food Bank.
