Community Engagement & Partnerships Coordinator
Position Title:
Community Engagement & Partnerships Coordinator
Location:
Austin, Texas
Compensation: $22–$24/hour, commensurate with experience
Hours:
20–25 hours per week
- Manage and maintain existing partnerships, including regular review and renewal to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness.
- Build and sustain relationships with partner organizations, including attending and promoting partner events.
- Engage partners for editorial collaboration, including sourcing quotes, interviews, and press materials.
- Represent Austin Free Press at community events, including outreach and newsletter sign-up collection.
- Identify and develop new partnership opportunities across Austin’s civic, nonprofit, and cultural landscape.
- Track and maintain clear records and reporting on engagement success.
- Serve as a liaison between partners and AFP staff, ensuring clear communication across editorial, social media, and leadership teams.
- Collaborate with AFP’s Editor and social media team to develop outreach strategies.
- Support planning and execution of community events focused on outreach and public education.
- Participate in weekly team meetings, providing updates and contributing to organizational strategy.
- Track hours and responsibilities accurately and submit timesheets on schedule.
- Manage the Austin Free Press Government Accountability Project (AFP-GAP) database.
- Track public information requests, organize incoming documents, and upload materials to AFP platforms.
- Review and interpret public records to identify key insights and potential story opportunities.
- Strong time‑management skills, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities, including occasional evening or weekend work.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple projects.
- Self‑starter mindset, with initiative to improve workflows and seek support when needed.
- Effective communicator, both in writing and in person, with the ability to represent AFP’s mission professionally.
- Familiarity with or strong interest in Austin’s political, social, and cultural landscape.
- Proficiency with tools such as Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Word Press.
- Experience in community engagement, communications, journalism, social work, education, public administration, nonprofit work, or a related field.
- Experience in mission‑driven communications or nonprofit marketing.
- Experience working within a small nonprofit team environment.
