The Temple Children’s Museum is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly organized Museum Manager to oversee the daily operations of the museum while ensuring exceptional experiences for children, families, volunteers, and community partners. The Museum Manager will be responsible for daily operations, educational programming, outreach initiatives, volunteer coordination, and visitor engagement.

The Museum Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with museum staff and volunteers.

Applicants must be available to work up to 30 hour weeks, during school hours, weekends, and occasional evenings.

Pay is $15-$20 per hour depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Executive Director.
  • Oversee daily museum operations and ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for all visitors.
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and support museum staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Engage small and large groups of children and families in a welcoming, energetic, professional, and inclusive manner.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate innovative educational, interpretive, and community programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee TCM-On-The-Go outreach programming and community engagement initiatives.
  • Promote, schedule, and manage museum programs, special events, workshops, camps, and outreach activities.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to recruit, train, and engage volunteers.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and visitor satisfaction throughout all museum operations.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and report all program data to the Executive Director.
  • Maintain knowledge of museum policies, procedures, and safety standards and ensure compliance among staff and volunteers.
  • Work with the Executive Director on marketing, public relations, social media content, and community outreach efforts.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, childcare providers, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Assist with special events, fundraising activities, membership initiatives, and donor engagement opportunities.
  • Manage program supplies, inventory, and operational materials.
  • Stay current with trends in museum education, visitor engagement, early childhood learning, and nonprofit best practices.
  • Provide administrative support and assist with strategic initiatives as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provides support to museum staff, educators, interns, and volunteers.
  • Monitors program effectiveness through attendance, participant feedback, and program data, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Promotes a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven workplace culture that supports innovation, teamwork, and excellence in visitor engagement and programming.
  • Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of museum programs to ensure high-quality educational experiences and successful program outcomes.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Education, Early Childhood Education, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, a STEAM discipline, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a museum, nonprofit, educational, recreational, or family-focused environment.
Preferred
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience working in a children’s museum, science center, cultural institution, or nonprofit organization.
  • Experience coordinating educational programs, outreach initiatives, or community events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working with children ages 0–8 in educational, recreational, museum, or after-school settings.
  • Understanding of child development and STEAM learning principles.
  • Knowledge of educational best practices in children’s museums, science centers, and other informal learning institutions.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently speak to groups of children and adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to consistently deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and active engagement with visitors throughout the day. Evening and weekend work will be required for programs, events, and community outreach activities.
