Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Organizing Director will play a vital leadership role in catalyzing collective action to address homelessness across Central Texas. As the strategic engine behind Finding Home ATX’s communications, organizing, and fundraising efforts, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape and amplify a unified community response to homelessness. The Organizing Director will work closely with a collaborative Leadership Group composed of the Downtown Austin Alliance, ECHO (Ending Community Homelessness Coalition), the City of Austin, Travis County, and a range of private and nonprofit partners.

Together, they have coalesced around a shared goal: to create an equitable, data-driven, and lasting response to homelessness in Austin and across Travis, Williamson, and Bastrop counties. This is a rare chance to guide a regional coalition that has channeled over $465 million in investments toward transformative impact—an infrastructure poised for renewed leadership and strategic direction.

This part-time, flexible contract role is ideal for a respected Austin leader with a deep understanding of systems change, political dynamics, and the power of collaborative strategy—someone ready to shape the next chapter of homelessness response in Central Texas.

Qualifications
  • Previous professional experience addressing homelessness and/or poverty in Austin
  • Existing relationships and credibility amongst policymakers, funders, and service providers
  • Familiarity with the funder landscape in Austin, either as a funder or fundraiser
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • History of rallying support and partnership around a common cause.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
