The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the leading hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and a proud member of the Feeding America network. Our mission to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger would not be possible without volunteers. Reporting to the Director of Volunteer Engagement, the Austin Volunteer Engagement Manager supervises three volunteer engagement coordinators. The key responsibilities of the team include running CTFB’s leadership volunteer programs; supporting volunteer recruitment and operational needs for all programs that use volunteers;
volunteer scheduling and customer service; volunteer data entry and hour tracking; and volunteer check in/out coverage for morning, afternoon and evening volunteer shifts Monday through Saturday. This position is specifically responsible for managing a culture of leveraging the volunteer experience to deepen community relationships and engagement, overseeing accurate and strategic volunteer data management, and overseeing fundraising through volunteerism. This position requires strong relationship building internally and externally.
The Volunteer Engagement Manager directly supervises three Volunteer Engagement Coordinators. Internally, this role interacts frequently with members of the Resource Development and Communications teams, as well as the teams from each program that use volunteers (Sort, Kitchen, Garden, Mobile Pantry, Senior Programs, Home Delivery, and other departments that request admin volunteers). Externally, this role interacts with and oversees the customer service of a high volume of groups and individuals who are interested in or actively volunteering with the Central Texas Food Bank.
YourQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or in lieu of degree, 10+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years’ experience in relationship-based fundraising, volunteer engagement or nonprofit management
- Proven track record of 2+ years managing staff and collaborating across teams to achieve objectives
- An affinity for the Food Bank’s volunteers who share their time and skills with us every day, attentiveness to their motivations and interests and a desire to communicate gratitude and constantly improve their volunteer experience
- Progressive career experience managing volunteer programs, developing donor relationships, and/or managing fundraising or corporate relations programs
- Proficiency in volunteer management software, fundraising/constituent relationship management software, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines
- Good judgment and discretion, strong ethical character, ability to preserve donor and volunteer confidentiality and when requested, anonymity
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers
