Job Summary:The Commissary Manager oversees the coordination and growth of the St. Thomas More Mobile Loaves & Fishes Truck Ministry commissary, ensuring the food truck is prepared, staffed, supplied, and ready to serve neighbors experiencing homelessness with dignity and compassion. Reporting to the STM Director of Outreach and Pastoral Care, this position upholds the partnership agreement between St. Thomas More and Mobile Loaves & Fishes, ensuring all ministry operations align with MLF’s mission, standards, and expectations while collaborating with designated MLF staff.
The Commissary Manager serves as the primary coordinator of the parish's Mobile Loaves & Fishes outreach ministry and is responsible for ministry growth, volunteer engagement, operational oversight, fundraising support, partnership compliance, and stewardship of resources used to serve neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Ministerial CharacterThe Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St. Thomas More Catholic Church which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Ministry Leadership & Vision
- Lead and grow the Mobile Loaves & Fishes Truck Ministry as a mission-centered outreach ministry.
- Engage parishioners in meaningful service with neighbors experiencing homelessness.
- Foster a dignity-first culture aligned with the missions of Mobile Loaves & Fishes and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers for all areas of the commissary ministry.
- Coordinate volunteer teams, including Truck Teams, Captains, Drivers, Loading Teams, and Support Volunteers.
- Foster an organized, welcoming, and mission-focused volunteer culture.
- Ensure volunteers meet Diocese of Austin EIM and parish compliance requirements before serving.
- Maintain accurate compliance records and communicate training and safety requirements.
- Restrict participation for volunteers who have not completed required compliance standards.
- Manage commissary communications and respond promptly to volunteer, staff, and ministry partner inquiries.
- Track volunteer scheduling, donations, and follow‑up needs.
- Maintain organized, welcoming, and mission‑centered communication systems.
- Coordinate weekly truck runs, volunteer teams, food preparation, inventory, and truck scheduling.
- Ensure each truck run is fully staffed, supplied, organized, and properly documented.
- Support the growth and efficiency of ministry operations.
- Attend parish staff meetings as requested.
- Oversee inventory, storage, and organization of food, clothing, hygiene items, and ministry supplies.
- Monitor supply levels, coordinate donations, and ensure safe food handling and inventory rotation.
- Manage the STM Clothing Closet, including volunteer coordination and distribution of donated items.
- Support efficient operations while preserving dignity and reducing waste or shortages.
- Maintain and oversee use of the MLF Tracker app, including volunteer training and route coordination.
- Communicate app updates, questions, and concerns with Mobile Loaves & Fishes staff.
- Ensure ministry operations follow the STM and Mobile Loaves & Fishes partnership agreement, policies, and safety standards.
