One Star Foundation (One Star), located in Austin, Texas is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to strengthen the capacity of the nonprofit infrastructure to enable communities to more effectively solve social challenges. As part of this mission, One Star established the One Star Foundation Statewide VISTA Intermediary Program in 2014. After launching with 3 members at 2 host sites in August 2014, One Star now sponsors about 20 members at 20 host sites across Texas.
These VISTAs are fighting poverty through their service in Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Education, Veterans and Families, and Healthy Futures. One Star is seeking an Ameri Corps VISTA Leader to provide leadership, peer development, and training to One Star VISTA members across Texas. Since this Statewide VISTA Intermediary Project is growing rapidly, the One Star VISTA Leader will have the opportunity to play a key leadership role in program development and helping members build a lifelong connection to service.
* Note:
You must have at least one full term of service as a full-time Ameri Corps VISTA, Ameri Corps State/National, NCCC member, or at least one traditional term of service as a Peace Corps Volunteer to apply as a VISTA Leader**
Support One Star Foundation's VISTA Intermediary Project's goal of tackling poverty by increasing the scale and reach, effectiveness and efficiency of partner nonprofits as they work with local communities to serve targeted populations. The VISTA Leader will help recruit, coordinate, train and support One Star VISTAs to help them maximize their individual and collective impact in collaboration with a co-leader. The Training and Resource Generation VISTA Leader will increase VISTA project success by supporting recruitment processes through recruitment strategy research and assisting with screening interviews for new VISTA's as needed.
They will also work with VISTA Project leadership to develop high quality member training and orientation for the project across the state. Lastly, they will work to increase member effectiveness through the development of a resource library.
