Overview

The Philanthropy Officer is a member of the Development team and is responsible for cultivating strategies and securing donor gifts to support Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas’ (PPGT) goals. This position is accountable for managing and executing a comprehensive fundraising program and donor portfolio with specific revenue accountability for an assigned area of responsibility including mid-level donors, special campaigns such as on-line giving days, high-impact fundraising events, planned giving and providing leadership for volunteers and peers to reach annual goals.

This position requires strong skills in strategy, execution and relationship management and regularly partners with senior leadership, Board members and donors.

Additional responsibilities include:

(1) fundraising and relationship-building activities with individual donors and foundations, (2) identifying, cultivating, and stewarding major gifts, (3) supporting and implementing fundraising events and (4) collaborating with senior leadership and colleagues in relationship management and coordination of the community board activities for assigned region. Supports the organization’s strategic plan and workplace inclusion initiatives. Ensures productivity expectations, customer service and compliance standards are maintained.

Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with supervisor, develops and implements a comprehensive annual development strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Executes and manages comprehensive fundraising program for assigned area of responsibility including major and mid-level gifts, special campaigns including on-line giving days, grants, and events.
  • Partners with senior leadership to develop measurable development revenue goals, track performance metrics, and adjust strategies and priorities to meet or exceed established goals and in support of organization-wide initiatives.
  • Manages a portfolio of donors and prospects through activities including stewardship and face-to-face solicitations which may include mid to major level gifts, event sponsor ships, and planned gifts and provides staff support for solicitations in coordination with executive leadership and leadership volunteers.
  • Directly supports management and execution of regional fundraising events in collaboration with Director of Events and Donor Experience and serves as lead liaison for event volunteer leadership (chairs, committee members) and provides direct oversight of third-party, grant and community fundraising initiatives ensuring alignment with organizational standards and revenue goals.
  • Helps develop and implement a coordinated, strategic, year-round fundraising plan and timetable, including setting target goals and monitoring results for major and mid-level gifts, planned giving, event sponsor ships and other fundraising initiatives.
  • In collaboration with senior leadership and Public Affairs colleagues, manages the regional community board; including recruitment, onboarding, annual planning and engagement, and performance accountability. May lead community board communications, meeting planning and ensures volunteers receive timely updates and resources to serve effectively in the community.
  • Manages major gift and planned giving solicitations, solicitation procedures and cultivation of donors from the earliest planning stages through implementation and follow-up within designated region.
  • Works to enhance community visibility, establish donor relations and build relationships.
  • Manages the mentoring of solicitors within designated region to assure their success in fundraising.
  • Develops and implements plan to strategically build and maintain donor base, including setting target goals and monitoring results.
  • Works with the development team to engage in systematic research on prospective donors, foundations, and corporations to identify sources of support and to supply solicitors with prospect information.
