Austin Oaks Hospital is an 80‑bed facility that offers a broad spectrum of psychiatric services for adults and children ages 4 to 17. Located on a beautiful 13‑acre, oak‑lined campus in South Austin, the hospital provides a home‑like environment that promotes crisis resolution, positive self‑awareness, social skills, and personal growth. Psychiatric treatment and substance abuse services are available through both inpatient and outpatient programs to meet individual needs.

Registered Nurse (RN) – PRN – Key responsibilities include but are not limited to providing nursing care for psychiatric patients using the nursing process. This involves assessing mental health needs, developing nursing diagnoses, identifying outcomes, planning and evaluating nursing care, administering and monitoring medications and treatments ordered by a physician, ensuring safety, and providing milieu management and crisis intervention strategies. Patients served include children, adolescents, adults (18+), and geriatric patients (55+).
QualificationsEducation: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing. Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Licensure / Certification: Current Texas State Registered Nurse License;
Current CPR or BLS certification;
Aggressive Behavior Management training within 90 days of hire date;
Designated as a Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMHP).
Experience: One year of experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting (preferred).
Work Hours: 12‑hour shifts. May be required to work flexible hours and weekends.
