Responsibilities
House Supervisor-Registered Nurse (RN) Days key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Provide clinical supervision over Nursing Services, including effective utilization of the nursing process to provide quality patient care, establish Standards of Practice, and provide effective fiscal management. Provides for patient and employee safety and well-being. Assists with staff supervision. Monitors patient care and unit processes to assure a safe customer focused approach. Maintains a high level of clinical competency and projects high standards of performance expectation from personnel on the unit.
Monitors educational needs of staff and assists with on‑going staff development opportunities. Maintains, follows, and understands the regulatory requirements. Manages the scheduling and staffing. Monitors documentation on a daily basis for accuracy of progress notes, charting and ensuring that the documentation is timely and complete. Participates in facility committees and projects as assigned. Conducts and documents incident investigations. Is directly or collaboratively involved in counseling disciplinary and evaluative activities for department staff.
Assumes responsibility for own professional growth. Maintains professional demeanor in dress, attitude and support of facility mission and philosophy. Include but not limited to:
Provide nursing care for psychiatric patients using the nursing process. To assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care. To administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician. To ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies. Patients served include children, adolescents, and adults (18+) and geriatric (55+).
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Management skills with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions. Able to develop and implement policies and procedures. Able to evaluate the performance of other staff members against the criteria in their job descriptions.
EDUCATION:
Required:
BSN with supervisory experience and with 3 years hospital psych experience or 1 year supervisory experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION:
Current Texas Board of Nursing Licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing, CPR Certification, Texas Driver's License, and Handle With Care.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Minimum of three years experience in psychiatric, mental health, and/or rehabilitation nursing with a minimum of one year supervisor in psychiatric, mental; health, and/or rehabilitation nursing. Experience in evaluating staff against the criteria in their job descriptions preferred.
