Job SummaryThe Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides essential nursing care and support to patients enrolled in a Narcotic Treatment Program (NTP). Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, the LVN conducts patient observations, administers medications, and assists in monitoring and assessing individuals experiencing substance use withdrawal. The LVN plays a key role in promoting patient safety, treatment compliance, and recovery-focused care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in performing COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale) and CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol) assessments under supervision, and report findings to the RN or medical provider.
- Observe and report signs of intoxication, withdrawal, or adverse medication reactions.
- Administer prescribed medications, including methadone, buprenorphine, and other treatment-related medications, in accordance with program policies and regulations.
- Monitor patients after medication administration to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Accurately document all care provided, including assessments, medication administration, and patient responses, following clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, counselors, and other team members to support individualized treatment planning and patient care.
- Provide patient education regarding medication compliance, withdrawal symptoms, and overall wellness within the scope of practice.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential treatment environment in line with HIPAA and professional nursing standards.
Regular, predictable attendance is considered an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. The position may require a flexible work schedule. Education- Graduation from an accredited LVN program.
- Current LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) license.
- Current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- 1 year of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Hours:
Full‑time. Workdays:
Monday – Friday with rotating Saturdays.
Work hours:
5:30 AM – 1:30 PM.
Salary: $29.39 – $37.47 per hour, depending on years of licensure, plus an additional 10% crisis stipend.
