Responsibilities
Austin Oaks Hospital (a UHS facility): Austin Oaks Hospital is an 80-bed facility that offers psychiatric services, located in South Austin.
We currently have opportunities for Registered Nurses – Night Shift 7p‑7a.
Position SummaryThe RN is responsible for implementing and evaluating patient care on the Adult/Adolescent/Geriatric units, providing supervision and guidance for nursing staff members, and performing duties delegated by the Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Manager, or House Supervisor. The RN also engages in personal and professional growth and development.
Job Duties- Completes patient admissions process, including nursing assessment.
- Documents ongoing patient assessments and progress clearly and concisely as required by hospital and regulatory agency standards.
- Medication management – administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
- Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Ensures nursing interventions.
- Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
- Provides appropriate nursing intervention and documentation in crisis situations.
- Reports unsafe conditions.
- Provides age‑specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
- Provides health education to patients and their families.
- Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process.
- Interacts with patients and staff in a professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence.
- Attends mandatory staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
- One‑year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
- CPR and hospital de‑escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation.
- Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
- State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.
