Responsibilities

Austin Oaks Hospital (a UHS facility) is an 80‑bed facility that offers a broad spectrum of psychiatric services for adults. Located on a beautiful oak‑lined campus, we provide a home‑like environment that promotes crisis resolution, positive self‑awareness, social skills, and personal growth. Our psychiatric treatment and substance abuse services are available through both inpatient and outpatient programs to fit your needs.

We currently have opportunities for Admissions Nurses – Night Shift 7p‑7a plus shift differentials.

Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) Weekend Nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 7p‑7a) key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responds to incoming calls to the hospital to accommodate coordination for referrals/admissions; provides assessment of patients' psychiatric and medical status; documents inquiries, referrals and admissions accurately in the computer system; ensures referral patient medical record information is completed and nursing and clinical staff are adequately apprised; copies and distributes referral material, prepares unit charts; assesses, directs and intervenes in crisis situations;

provides leadership and direction to mental health technicians; contributes to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team; administers medication and medical treatment as prescribed by Physician.

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
• One‑year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de‑escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation.
• Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
• State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.
