Responsibilities
Provide clinical supervision over Nursing Services, including effective utilization of the nursing process to provide quality patient care, establish Standards of Practice, and provide effective fiscal management.
Provide for patient and employee safety and well-being; assist with staff supervision, monitor patient care and unit processes, maintain high level of clinical competency, ensure documenting accuracy and completeness, manage scheduling and staffing, participate in facility committees and projects, conduct incident investigations, counsel disciplinary and evaluative activities for department staff, maintain professional demeanor.
Provide nursing care for psychiatric patients using the nursing process: assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care; administer and monitor medications and treatments, ensure safety, provide milieu management and crisis intervention. Serve patients including children, adolescents, adults (18+) and geriatric (55+).
Qualifications- Management skills with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Able to develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Able to evaluate the performance of other staff members against the criteria in their job descriptions.
Education: Required: BSN with supervisory experience, 3 years hospital psych experience or 1 year supervisory experience.
Licensure / Certification: Current Texas Board of Nursing Licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing, CPR Certification, Texas Driver's License, Handle With Care.
Experience: Minimum of three years experience in psychiatric, mental health, and/or rehabilitation nursing with a minimum of one year supervisory experience. Experience evaluating staff against job descriptions preferred.
