Location: Waco, Texas

Status: Full-Time

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, seven days a week

Compensation: $60–$80/hour, based on experience, plus bonus potential

Position Summary

Next Care Urgent Care is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Waco, Texas
.

This role is ideal for a clinician who values variety, autonomy, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment.

You’ll be supported by experienced clinical teams, strong peer relationships, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership who provide real-time guidance and mentorship. The work is engaging and varied, with a broad patient population and generally low-acuity presentations that keep skills sharp without the pressure of inpatient follow-up.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
  • Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
  • Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, and other urgent care procedures as applicable
  • Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
  • Code and bill services appropriately
  • Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
  • Practice in alignment with Next Care clinical standards and values
Required Qualifications
  • Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
  • PA: NCCPA certification
  • Active DEA license, or ability to obtain

    Ability to treat patients of all ages
  • Active BLS certification
  • EHR proficiency
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays
  • DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; fees covered per policy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
  • Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
  • Experience with initial x-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
