Responsibilities
Texas Neuro Rehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a Charge Nurse (RN) on the LTAC unit. The candidate will assist the Director of Nursing with administrative and clinical responsibilities for nursing services on the LTAC unit, supervise and provide direct patient care, manage nursing staff, conduct assessments, and handle crisis situations. The Charge Nurse provides leadership and effective role modeling, ensures environmental safety, makes patient and task assignments, monitors performance, oversees new employee orientation, provides training, documents nursing care, ensures accurate administrative data, and supervises all staff assigned to the shift.
Texas Neuro Rehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres, originally a cattle ranch purchased in 1943 as part of The Brown Schools.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
:
Thorough knowledge of rehabilitation, medical/surgical, and brain injury; knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions; knowledge of milieu management; ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side‑effects; ability to direct subordinates; ability to develop therapeutic relationships; skill in documenting medical records; clear verbal and written communication; understanding of management principles; ability to evaluate staff against job criteria.
Education
:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
Licensure/Certification
:
Current Driver’s License or State‑issued ;
Current Texas Registered Nurse License;
Current CPR certification; CRRN or RN, C preferred.
Experience
:
One year of inpatient rehabilitation, medical/surgical, or brain injury experience preferred; one year of progressive experience in management and/or supervision; experience evaluating staff against job criteria preferred.
Physical/General Requirements
:
Able to lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance; able to move patients in wheelchairs and navigate terrain; able to transfer patients; verbal deescalation skills; able to perform restraints per policy; able to sit, stand, write, and use a computer for extended periods; adequate hearing, vision, and emotional stability.
