RN- Intake Nights

Responsibilities

• Responds to incoming calls to the hospital to coordinate referrals and admissions.
• Provides assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
• Ensures all inquiries, referrals, and admissions are accurately documented in the computer system.
• Ensures referral patient medical record information is completed and nursing/clinical staff are apprised of patient condition/history.
• Ensures referral material is copied, distributed, and prepared in unit charts as required.
• Assesses, directs, and intervenes in crisis situations.
• Provides leadership and direction to mental health technicians.
• Contributes to treatment plans as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
• Administers medication and medical treatment as prescribed by physicians.

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
• One year of psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications, obtainable during orientation.
• Ability to complete new‑hire requirements including nationwide background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
• State and federal Office of the Inspector General check.
