Position: Central Nursing Supervisor

Responsibilities

Texas Neuro Rehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a Central Nursing Supervisor. The candidate will:

  • Provide direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team.
  • Provide medical management and assessment of patients.
  • Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population.
  • Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry‑through.
  • Make patient and task assignments to subordinates and monitor their performance of duties.
  • Provide training and education to staff, patients, families, and others.
  • Document patient care, ensuring data accuracy, and include it in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates.
  • Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients; knowledge of milieu management; ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties; ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side‑effects; ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures; ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families; skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current State of Texas Registered Nurse License. Current CPR certification. RN, C; CRRN preferred.
  • Experience: One year of inpatient medical surgery, rehabilitation, or psychiatric experience preferred.
  • Physical/General Requirements: Able to sustain physical activity throughout scheduled shift; able to remain on feet throughout scheduled shift; able to physically restrain patients by individual or team restraint per policy; able to lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance; able to push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills and pursue running patients; able to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, toilets, and vehicles;

    able to confront a dangerous and aggressive patient; verbal skills to communicate to deescalate a crisis situation; writing skills to accurately convey patient behavior and status; visual observation skills; ability to assist in direct patient care from prompting through total care (e.g., bath, diapering); able to eat with and feed patients.
  • Regular & required attendance. Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential job functions.
