Texas Neuro Rehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. We have served the Austin community for over 60 years and are proud of our history and tenured leadership team. Today, Texas Neuro Rehab Center provides complex medical and brain injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neurobehavioral residential treatment services for children and adolescents.
The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents, and adults facing difficult challenges.
Texas Neuro Rehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a LVN/LPN BH Float Full-time. This candidate will provide and assist in direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse (RN) as prescribed by the physician and the treatment team. Provide medical management and assessment of patients. Assist RN with environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. Supervise SRTs & RTs as directed by RN.
Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, and that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.

The following are the job requirements for the LVN/LPN position.
- Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
- Knowledge of milieu management.
- Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
- Accurate administration of medication & treatments.
- Monitor & record response & side-effects to medication & treatments.
- Safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Willingness to assist with educating patients & families in medication & care management.
- Ability to write clearly, legibly, accurately, & concisely in patient charts.
- Maintains appropriate medical record documentation.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Driver's License or State issued State of Texas Registered Nurse License. Current CPR certification.
LVN or LPN
Experience:
One year of BH experience preferred.
Physical/General Requirements:
Able to sustain physical activity throughout scheduled shift. Able to remain on feet throughout scheduled shift. Able to lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance. Able to push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills and pursue running patients. Able to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, toilets, & vehicles. Verbal skills to communicate to deescalate a crisis situation.
Writing skills to accurately convey patient behavior and status. Visual observation skills so as to convey verbally & in writing patient behavior. Writing skills to include legibility and correct grammar to convey patient behavior and other information in the patient chart. Ability to assist in direct patient care from prompting through total care (i.e. bath, diapering). Able to feed patients.
Regular / required attendance. Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential job functions. Emotional stability and ability to deal with changing priorities.
