Position overviewRegistered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and documenting skilled nursing care in accordance with the developed care plan and physicians orders for each patient, while adhering to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries.
Essential Job Functions
- Deliver and coordinate quality patient care in compliance with physician orders.
- Observe and assess patient condition, report changes to supervisor or physician.
- Document all activities, assessments, nursing actions, and coordination of care in a timely manner.
- Develop, implement and update the nursing care plan.
- Take appropriate nursing action based on assessment and achieve expected outcomes.
- Recognize changes in patient needs and intervene to prevent or reduce risk.
- Comply with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Provide care utilizing infection control measures according to OSHA standards.
- Educate patient and family regarding disease process, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies.
- Participate in educational programs and maintain competencies through continuing education and skill evaluations.
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate nursing program
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice
- Current CPR certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and adherence to policies
Additional state requirements:
- South Carolina – 1 year of pediatrics experience
- California – 1 year experience with current nursing license
- Louisiana – 1 year experience as a licensed nurse
Continuing Education as required by state requirements.
Discipline-specific preferences:
- Home health experience; six months of recent clinical nursing experience
Other skills/abilities include attention to detail, time management, problem-solving, and strong communication.
Physical & Environmental requirements- Ability to travel; lift up to 50 pounds; prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs
- English proficiency; auditory and visual acuity; ability to respond to emergencies
- Exposure to various home environments, potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids
