Responsibilities

Austin Oaks Hospital (a UHS facility) is an 80-bed psychiatric facility that offers a broad spectrum of services for adults, both inpatient and outpatient. We are looking for Admissions Registered Nurses for Night Shift (7 p‑7 a) with shift differentials.

Position Summary

Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) PRN responsibilities include:

  • Respond to incoming calls for referrals and admissions.
  • Assess patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
  • Document all inquiries, referrals, and admissions accurately in the computer system.
  • Ensure all referral medical record information is completed and staff are apprised of the patient’s condition/history.
  • Copy, distribute, and prepare referral materials for unit charts.
  • Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to mental health technicians.
  • Contribute to treatment plans as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by the physician.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing or licensed in a compact state.
  • One‑year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
  • CPR and hospital de‑escalation certifications (obtainable during orientation).
  • Ability to complete new‑hire requirements, including a nationwide background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
  • State and federal Office of the Inspector General check.
Differentials
  • RN – Mon – Fri, 7 a‑3 p (Shift 10)
  • RN – Mon – Fri, 3 p‑11 p (Shift 2, $2.25)
  • RN – Mon – Fri, 11 p‑7 a (Shift 3, $4.00)
  • RN – Sat & Sun, 7 a‑3 p (Shift 4, $4.00)
  • RN – Sat & Sun, 3 p‑11 p (Shift 5, $6.00)
  • RN – Sat & Sun, 11 p‑7 a (Shift 6, $6.50)
