The Dell Medical School is seeking a Registered Nurse for Gastroenterology in the Outpatient Clinic. The RN provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in an outpatient setting, ensuring high‑quality care and patient satisfaction. Reporting to the Clinic Supervisor you will collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
Responsibilities Patient Assessment and Care Planning- Conduct initial patient assessments and obtain medical histories.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Ensure proper dosage and compliance with treatment regimens.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and report findings.
- Educate patients and their families about medical conditions and treatment options.
- Provide guidance on self‑care techniques and preventive health measures.
- Conduct follow‑up education sessions as needed.
- Perform minor medical procedures such as wound care and suture removal.
- Assist physicians with diagnostic tests and minor surgeries.
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments for procedures.
- Document patient care in electronic health records (EHR).
- Coordinate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care.
- Manage patient appointments and follow‑up care.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks and restock supplies.
- Ensure availability of necessary medical equipment.
- Provide medical advice and guidance to patients over the phone.
- Assess patient needs and direct them to appropriate care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with data collection and analysis for performance improvement.
- Demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge and skills in patient care.
- Accurately assesses patient conditions, administers treatments, and performs procedures.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Provides clear instructions, listens actively, and conveys empathy.
- Prioritizes patient needs and ensures satisfaction.
- Responds promptly to patient concerns, provides personalized care, and maintains confidentiality.
- Works effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Shares information, supports colleagues, and contributes to team goals.
- Adjusts to changing patient needs and clinical environments.
- Remains calm under pressure, adapts to new protocols, and handles emergencies.
- Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- 1 year of relevant experience in an outpatient or clinical setting.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
- 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare environment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
$82,000 + depending on qualifications.

- May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, ionizing and non‑ionizing radiation, hazardous medications, and disoriented or combative patients.
