Austin Oaks Hospital offers a continuum of psychiatric services for adolescents and adults. The RN is responsible for implementing and evaluating patient care on the Adult/Adolescent/Geriatric units; for providing supervision and guidance for nursing staff members; for assuming responsibilities delegated by the Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Manager, or House Supervisor; for personal and professional growth and development. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Completes patient admissions process, including nursing assessment.
• Documents ongoing patient assessments/progress clearly and concisely as required by hospital and regulatory agency standards.
• Medication management – administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Ensures nursing interventions.
• Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
• Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
• Reports unsafe conditions.
• Provides age‑specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
• Provides health education to patients and their families.
• Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process.
• Interacts with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence.
• Attends mandatory staff meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
