Charge Nurse – LTAC Unit

Texas Neuro Rehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin.

• Assists the Director of Nursing with administrative and clinical responsibilities for nursing services on the LTAC unit.
• Supervises and provides direct patient care, nursing management, assessment, and crisis management.
• Provides leadership and effective role modeling for unit staff.
• Ensures environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population.
• Assigns patient and task assignments to nursing staff and monitors the performance of duties.
• Oversees new employee orientation for prn, float, and agency staff.
• Provides training and education to staff, patients, and families.
• Documents and oversees nursing documentation of patient care.
• Ensures accurate and complete administrative data including admissions, discharges, shift census reports, and patient transport.
• Supervises all staff assigned to the shift.

• Thorough knowledge of rehabilitation, medical/surgical, and brain injury nursing.
• Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions.
• Knowledge of milieu management.
• Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side‑effects.
• Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of management principles.
• Ability to evaluate staff using the criteria in their job description.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current Texas Registered Nurse License; current CPR certification.
• CRRN or RN, C preferred.
• One year of inpatient rehabilitation, medical‑surgical, or brain injury experience preferred.
• One year of progressive management and/or supervision experience preferred.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance; push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills; transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, toilets, and vehicles; sit and stand for extended periods; use computer and phone; maintain hearing, vision, and emotional stability to perform essential job functions.
