Oncology Nurse, RN Nurse
Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our South Austin team. This is a full‑time Monday‑Friday position (8:30 am–5 pm) with no weekends, call or major holidays.

Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patients about current status and medical history.
- Assess patient and family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
- Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart.
- Facilitate communication between patients/families and the interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
- Assist patients in locating available community resources.
- Collaborate with interprofessional team members.
- Act as a resource to LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants.
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Hold an RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
- Hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Maintain continuing education requirements.
- Entry‑level (0‑3 years) nursing experience, with oncology experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, with oncology experience strongly preferred.
- In addition to Level I and II requirements:
- Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology (strongly preferred).
- Oncology certification preferred.

Physical RequirementsRequired to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain eye‑hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time are required; occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are required.
