American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level 4 designated maternal center in Austin, TX, requiring high-risk maternal and OR circulating experience on a 13-week day shift contract.
Details- Located on the 3rd floor of an acute care hospital in Austin, TX
- Level 4 designated maternal center — the highest level of maternal care in Texas — caring for complex patients at any gestation
- 22-bed unit with 16 labor beds and approximately 100 RN and support staff
- Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 depending on acuity
- Procedures performed include vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, D&C, C-hyst, and PASD cases
- EMR systems used: CPN and Meditech
- Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 4 weekend shifts per schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted), NRP Advanced 9th Edition, and intermediate or advanced AWHONN fetal monitoring certification or NCCEFM
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience required
- Experience with high-risk maternal patients required
- OR circulating and triage experience required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Greater than 5 years of L&D experience is preferred and will be prioritized
- The ideal candidate is a strong multi-tasker who is team-oriented, works at a fast pace, and can adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Unit is well-staffed with tenured RNs and long-term leadership; the manager and director are available to assist with patient care when census requires
- Unit is currently undergoing renovation to update all patient rooms
- Recognized as America's Best Maternity Hospital 2023 by Newsweek and holds a Leapfrog Grade A — the only hospital in Texas to receive straight A's since the program began
