The Dell Medical School in conjunction with Ascension Texas, isseeking an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to bepartof the Institute for Cardiovascular Health. This individual will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to servethe growing need of the regional adult population to deliver worldclass adult cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care.
PurposeIn collaboration with supervising physicians, provides for the expansion of individualized healthcare services by diagnosing and treating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions. The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) will primarily staff the ICU but willalso cross cover the telemetry ward providing patient-centered,competent, compassionate, and professional care in both out-patient and in-patient settings.
Responsibilities- Operating Room based Physician Assistants will primarily work assisting in the cardiovascular operating room. Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies.
Performs health assessments, screening, and patient care. - Provides direct treatment and management of conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources. Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options and community resources.
- Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
- Participates in orientation and education of staff and students.
- Other related functions as assigned
- Physician's Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Boardor Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care.
- Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- Cardiovascular and thoracic experience preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations.
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
$125,000+ depending on qualifications
