The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing invites applications for a senior faculty position in oncology nursing science. We seek an accomplished, nationally recognized nurse scientist with an established program of externally funded research and a strong record of scholarship, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of tenured Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Exceptional candidates currently at the associate professor level who demonstrate a record consistent with advancement to professor at The University of Texas at Austin are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Successful Candidates are Expected To:

  • Maintain and advance a nationally recognized, externally funded program of research focused on oncology, cancer prevention, cancer care, cancer survivorship, symptom science, health outcomes, or other areas relevant to oncology nursing and cancer science.
  • Pursue and sustain competitive extramural research funding from federal agencies, foundations, and other sponsors.
  • Produce high-impact scholarship and contribute to the advancement of oncology nursing science.
  • Develop interdisciplinary collaborations within the School of Nursing and across The University of Texas at Austin and the broader healthcare and research community.
  • Mentor junior faculty, postdoctoral scholars, doctoral students, and other emerging nurse scientists.
  • Teach and advise graduate and/or undergraduate students consistent with the needs of the School and the candidate’s expertise.
  • Provide leadership and service to the School of Nursing, the University, the community, and the profession.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned research doctorate in nursing or closely related field.
  • An established record of scholarship appropriate for appointment with tenure at the rank of Professor at The University of Texas at Austin
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed, data-based publications
  • A demonstrated record of securing and successfully managing extramural research funding.
  • Evidence of successful mentoring of students, junior faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and/or other researchers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An active program of federally funded research.
  • A sustained record of NIH or other major extramural research funding.
  • Record of leadership in interdisciplinary cancer or oncology research initiatives.
