We are seeking a qualified Part-Time
Pre-Op Call Specialist Nurse for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Austin, TX.

The Pre-Op Call Specialist Nurse will be responsible for making pre-op phone calls to patients and review health history, including medications, any allergies, and review specific instructions for what patients need to do prior to surgery.

Essential Functions
  • Completes and documents pre-procedure/surgery phone calls to patients. Reviews health history, including medications, any allergies, and review specific instructions for what patient need to do prior to surgery:
    Advises patients on the need for NPO status, sedation guidelines, and appointment arrival times. Reviews and educates Plan of Care with patients and types of procedure/surgery
  • Accurately advises patient on the need to hold medications according to facility and procedure guidelines.
  • Explains procedure/treatment/discharge to patient.
  • Perform chart review on daily basis to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.
  • Completes post-procedure follow up phone calls to patients daily and according to specified call schedule.
  • Instruct individuals, families and other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, and develop health improvement programs.
  • Performs calls in a professional, legal, and ethical manner.
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Observes and documents patients’ medical and educational needs to assist in patient assessment and care.
  • Consistently follows the Nursing Plan of Care for the patient.
  • Participates and maintains safety and dignity of patient at all times.
  • Effectively communicates with all providers and staff members.
  • Participates in RN Peer review process, reviewing nursing plans documented by other nursing staff and providing feedback according to corporate process.
  • Helps support corporate Quality Assurance initiatives as requested by the Quality Improvement & Compliance Manager.
  • Effectively communicates with patient regarding triage needs. Documents accurately in EMR, creates encounters as needed, properly updates and utilizes medication module. Tasks and communicates with providers regarding triage needs.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, values, and strategies of CPIhealth.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nursing program (LVN, RN).
  • At least ten years of related experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, judgment, communication and analytical skills; sometimes under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform multiple priorities.
  • Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, management and visitors.
  • Awareness of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public.
  • Ability to independently make decisions and solve problems; ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Evidence of leadership qualities. Consistently contributing to the improvement of the department and participate in committee participation, task force, etc.
