Position: Farm Gardener - Full Time

Miraval Austin Resort & Spa is seeking a full‑time Farm Gardener to support the Cypress Creek Farm’s production and guest experience.

Responsibilities
  • Operate mechanical cultivation equipment including tractors and tractor‑drawn implements
  • Utilize long and short‑handled tools for bed preparation, transplanting, weed maintenance, and other tasks
  • Apply field preparations for organic growing strategies and fertilization
  • Operate and repair irrigation systems for variable crops
  • Plant crops, herbs and perennials both directly and as seedlings/transplants; mix soil and seed transplants in the greenhouse
  • Scout and communicate disease, weed, or insect pressures
  • Harvest, sort, store, package and prepare produce and medicinal herbs to specifications
  • Propagate, prune, irrigate, train, and harvest perennial crops and herbs
  • Maintain farmscape areas (wildflower beds, apiary, food forests, etc.)
  • Perform tasks related to poultry care, including daily feeding, quarterly coop cleaning, sanitizing water troughs, and pest scouting
  • Lead educational tours that delve into organic and regenerative agriculture, soil science, integrated pest management, animal husbandry, and farm integration strategies
  • Lead hands‑on chicken classes for guests, colleagues, or customers
  • Maintain the equine facility: keep it clean and neat, assist with feeding, deliver supplements, ensure horses are adequately watered, and prepare horses for activities
  • Assist with tack room organization, arena grooming, fencing repair, and landscaping around the ranch/farm
Qualifications
  • Experience operating mechanical cultivation equipment, including tractors and tractor‑drawn implements
  • Proficiency with long and short‑handled tools for bed preparation and transplanting
  • Knowledge of organic growing strategies and fertilization practices
  • Experience operating irrigation systems for variable crops
  • Knowledge of planting crops, herbs and perennials directly or in seedling/transplant form within greenhouse settings
  • Ability to scout and communicate disease, weed, or insect pressures
  • Experience harvesting, sorting, storing, packaging, and preparing produce and medicinal herbs to specifications
  • Skill in propagating, pruning, irrigating, training, and harvesting perennial crops and herbs
  • Experience maintaining farmscape areas such as wildflower beds, apiaries, and food forests
  • Knowledge of poultry care, including daily feeding, coop cleaning, and pest management
  • Ability to lead educational tours on organic agriculture, soil science, pest management, animal husbandry, and farm integration
  • Experience leading hands‑on chicken classes for guests or colleagues
  • Ability to groom arenas, build, repair, and maintain horse fencing; basic riding and horse handling experience preferred but not required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, sun, dust) for extended periods of time
